Faith

Jesus the Christ

Evelyn and Stephen describe themselves as “ConservativeChristians”.

They believe that there is one and only one true God, and the Bible is His inspired Word.  God created the universe, Earth, and everything in it.  Man is the pinnacle of God’s creation.

God is perfect and Man falls far short of His perfection.  But God loves us and wants to have a relationship with us.  So He came up with a solution.

He sent His Son Jesus  (John 3:16) , to live a perfect human life and then sacrifice Himself for us.  Jesus is thus the only human to live a perfect life.  Jesus is therefore the only way to God.  Being “Saved” or “Born Again” simply means that you have accepted Jesus as your personal savior and that you put your faith in Him.

Putting your faith in Jesus means trusting Him with your life and everything in it (Hebrews 11:1).  Those who have accepted Jesus will spend eternity with God.  Eternity is forever.  If you are living like there is no God, you best hope there isn’t.  Food for thought:  Are our brief earthly lives worth the risk of ignoring Godand spending forever in Hell?

Once you are saved, the goal is to grow as a Christian, andgrow in your relationship with Jesus.  So how does one do this?  By reading the Bible, prayer, and attending a good church.  The Bible is the number one most read book in the world.  The Bible is life’s manual.  It is there to guide us and keep us from self destruction.

In summary: We encourage you to check out Jesus foryourself.  You will not regret it.  God bless you.

Evolution vs. Creation

Our society seems to believe that Darwinian Evolution isestablished science, and that Creationism (the belief that the Earth was created by God) is for spiritual idiots.

The German monk: Gregor Mendel, is the father of moderngenetics.  He performed his research in the late 1800s, originally on mice and then on pea plants.  Mendel demonstrated that genetic inheritance follows particular patterns.

Charles Darwin started with Mendelian Inheritance and came up with the Theory of Evolution .  Darwin believed that all life is related and has descended from a common ancestor.

There are a number of problems with this theory.  First, how did the common ancestor come into being?  How did the process start, from where did it start, and what did it start from?  Essentially Darwin defined a theorem, but was unable to prove the initial conditions.  Thus this theory is unproven.  Actually this theorem is illogical in that Darwin is trying to show that life was created from nothing.  How can anything come from nothing?  There must be some starting point.  Evolutionists try to make this an assumption, that is, we should assume that the beginning somehow came into existence.  This requires a massive leap of faith and is actually pure fantasy.

In addition, Darwin came up with his theory before the advent of microscopes.  In his time, they lacked the knowledge of the inner workings of cells and DNA.  We now know that cells are so complex that it is mathematically impossible for cell complexity to evolve.

Furthermore, if evolution was real, then we would see many examples of this process in nature.  We simply do not.  Consider the science of Animal Husbandry.  It is extremely
difficult to breed across different species.  Even if such an offspring is successfully delivered, the result is usually sterile.  It seems that biological inheritance is strongly resistant to jumping between species.

Consider the fossil record.  For Evolution to work, we should see many skeletal examples of the evolutionary change of apes to humans.  We do not, such fossils are very rare.  In all honesty, we can only conclude that science, logic, and mathematics do NOT support the Theory of Evolution.

On the other hand, the complexity of nature supports Creationism.  This concept is
called Intelligent Design.  Psalm 19:1 says “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”  Any honest examination of the world, that we live in, reveals an amazing complexity.  How can you hold a baby in your arms and not be in awe of the Creator?  Look at the beauty of flowers and the incredible number and proliferation of insects.

Consider the complexity of the human brain.  Stephen’s Master’s Thesis is on machine learning.  He spent considerable time researching learning algorithms.  Human beings are
born not fully developed, but with an incredible learning algorithm and a seriously powerful database with an unreal capacity.  No computer  program can even attempt to match the power and complexity of a baby’s brain.

We are thus convinced that the Lord God Almighty created the heavens and earth.  We strongly suspect that the commitment to the Theory of Evolution is driven by a refusal to admit the existence of God.  Psalm 14:1 says: “The fool says in his heart, There is no
God.”

God and America

Another somewhat popular theory is that America is NOT a Christian nation and that the United States was NOT founded on Christianity.   This is categorically false.

The founding fathers believed in God.  We recommend the following books for more detail: Washington’s God (by Michael Novak), The Politically Incorrect Guide to the Founding Father’s (by Brion McClanahan), The Politically Incorrect Guide to the Constitution, The Faiths of the Founding Fathers,  and A Patriot’s History of the United States.  We would also encourage you to read the Federalist Papers; a collection of newspaper articles that Alexander Hamilton , James Madison , and John Jay wrote to pomulgate the proposed Constitution of the United States .  The founding dads frequently made reference to the Deity and oftentimes prayed publicly.  Washington essentially offered prayers in all of his inaugural addresses.

The Bill of Rights is based on the belief that humans get their basic rights from a Higher Power.  No government can grant or remove these rights.  If this were not so, then governments are free to define our rights as they so choose.  Federal officials take an oath upon entering office.  This oath includes the statement that they will faithfully protect and serve the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.  This means that our elected officials are required to believe in a Power higher than the government.  Citizens of this country are free to believe as they choose; they still receive the blessings of the Bill of Rights.  This is a wonderful freedom.

Now to the idea of “the separation of Church and State”.  The First Amendment (of the Bill of Rights) reads “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof ….”.  The First Amendment thus establishes the “freedom of religion”, not the “freedom from religion”.  Thus everyone has the freedom in what they speak and believe.  No one has the right to control or regulate what others speak and believe.  Therefore, the First Amendment prohibits the government from sponsoring or favoring a particular religion.  The government cannot force religious activity.  The government cannot also disallow religious activity.  Citizens and elected officials are free to worship (or not) as they choose.

For example: the government cannot force the Ten Commandments to be displayed in a court room.  And the government cannot disallow the Ten Commandments from being displayed in a court room.  The First Amendment thus requires that the government has no right to involve itself in any religious expression.
